The writing of Hannah Arendt, particularly her conception of action as a ’space of appearance’, continues to have relevance for art, design, media and communication as socially engaged practices. As part of the UAL Research Fortnight, this panel, which is made up of members of the Informed Matters Community of Practice, reconsiders the value of Arendt’s thought as it has been cited and developed by Judith Butler, Donna Haraway and Ernesto Laclau.
